Digital Rocks is a data portal for fast storage and retrieval of images of varied porous micro-structures. It has the purpose of enhancing research resources for modeling/prediction of porous material properties in the fields of Petroleum, Civil and Environmental Engineering as well as Geology. This platform allows managing and preserving available images of porous materials and experiments performed on them, and any accompanying measurements (porosity, capillary pressure, permeability, electrical, NMR and elastic properties, etc.) required for both validation on modeling approaches and the upscaling and building of larger (hydro)geological models. It also supports widely used file formats that are suitable for machine processing, thus gives avenues for many more innovative uses of Government Data in different perspective. This portal has been created under Software as A Service (SaaS) model of Open Government Data (OGD) Platform India of NIC. The data available in the portal are owned by various Departments/Organization of Government of Odisha. It follows principles on which data sharing and accessibility need to be based include: Openness, Flexibility, Transparency, Quality, Security and Machine-readable.

The database GEOROC (Geochemistry of Rocks of the Oceans and Continents) is a comprehensive collection of published analyses of igneous and metamorphic rocks and minerals. It contains major and trace element concentrations, radiogenic and nonradiogenic isotope ratios as well as analytical ages for whole rocks, glasses, minerals and inclusions. Metadata include geospatial and other sample information, analytical details and references. The database was established by the Max Plank Institute for Chemistry, Mainz. It is now maintained by the Digital Geochemical Data Infrastructure (DIGIS) project at Göttingen University.
