The IOWDB was designed for the particular requirements of the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research. It is aimed at the management of historical and recent measurement of the IOW (to some extend of other data, too) and to provide them in a user-friendly way via the research tool ODIN (Oceanographic Database research with Interactive Navigation).
The primary focus of the Upper Ocean Processes Group is the study of physical processes in the upper ocean and at the air-sea interface using moored surface buoys equipped with meteorological and oceanographic sensors. UOP Project Map The Upper Ocean Processes Group provides technical support to upper ocean and air-sea interface science programs. Deep-ocean and shallow-water moored surface buoy arrays are designed, fabricated, instrumented, tested, and deployed at sea for periods of up to one year
Country
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute supplies climate observations and weather data and forecasts for the country and surrounding waters (including the Arctic). In addition commercial services are provided to fit customers requirements. Data are served through a number of subsystems (information provided in repository link) and cover data from internal services of the institute, from external services operated by the institute and research projects where the institute participates.
