Description
EcoPortal is a repository of semantic artefacts for ecology and related domains. It has been developed by LifeWatch ERIC, in collaboration with its Italian node LifeWatch Italy coordinated by CNR, through the reuse of the OntoPortal technology to support the activities of different kinds of stakeholders (researchers, vocabularies managers, data managers, ontologists, etc.). EcoPortal assists the community in the creation, management, mapping, hosting, versioning, alignment, annotation, of semantic artefacts and subsequently also of its data, by adopting and fostering FAIR principles. It enables semantic interoperability by using well-known standards (e.g., SKOS, OWL, RDF, SPARQL, JSON, etc.). Ontologies can be explored across multiple federated portals (other OntoPortal instances i.e., AgroPortal, BioDivPortal and EarthPortal).
