RADAR4Memory is a low-threshold and easy-to-use service for the sustainable publication and preservation of research data from the historical sciences and other disciplines working with historical data. It offers free publication for any data type and format according to the FAIR principles, regardless of the researcher's institutional affiliation. Thanks to persistent identifiers (DOI) and a guaranteed retention period of at least 25 years, the research data will remain available, citable and findable in the long term. The service is currently aimed exclusively at researchers at publicly funded research institutions and universities as well as non-commercial academies, libraries, archives and museums in Germany. No contract is required and no fees are charged for the publication of data. The upload, organization, annotation and curation of the research data as well as the peer review process (as an optional step) and finally the publication are the responsibility of the researchers.
RADAR4Memory is based on the established data repository RADAR Cloud, which is operated by FIZ Karlsruhe - Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure (https://www.re3data.org/repository/r3d100012330). It was developed as part of FIZ Karlsruhe's participation in the consortium for the the historically working humanities NFDI4Memory (funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) - 501609550) within the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). RADAR4Memory complements the existing portfolio of repositories for research data on the field of historical humanities and is ideally suited for cross-disciplinary data or datasets with a variety of different data formats.
