Remarks
The Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) is a Division of the Prairie Research Institute of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (U of I).
In 2013 the Illinois State Water Survey restructured in order to focus on critical research issues that are important to the state of Illinois. The new organizational structure of the Water Survey includes seven sections (Climate and Atmospheric Science, Chemistry and Technology, Groundwater Science, Water Quality, Surface Water Hydrology and Hydraulics, Coordinated Hazard Assessment and Mapping Program (CHAMP), and Water Resources Data and Information), and one national program (National Atmospheric Deposition Program), together with central administration and management functions conducted in the Office of the Director. In addition to its traditional strengths, the Water Survey is enhancing its monitoring, analytical, and mathematical modeling capabilities to address issues with greater efficiency and productivity.
