This new data repository provides a mechanism for our staff to deposit and document this wider range of datasets so that they may be discovered and potentially re-used.

It also acts as a safe repository for datasets produced by other government agencies and government funded statistical studies. The unit record data is archived when it is no longer in regular use by its producer.

NVS is accorded the status of a Nationally Significant database and upkeep and maintenance is supported by Core funding for Crown Research Institutes from the NZ Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
